The Benefits of Oxygen Therapy
You might have already heard about Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) used in hospitals to speed the healing process of carbon monoxide poisoning, gangrene, and other infections in which tissues are starved for oxygen. During this therapy, a patient enters a special chamber to breathe in pure oxygen in air pressure levels 1.5 to 3 times higher than average. The goal is to fill the blood with enough oxygen to repair tissues and restore normal body function.
At Tsavo, we use a different type of a milder form of hyperbaric oxygen and hydrogen therapy which takes place in an ‘Airpod’ and works to speed up your body’s innate healing process, improve your overall cellular health and reduce oxidative stress. It’s a safe and effective technique that uses a high-pressure environment to increase the concentration of oxygen and hydrogen in your bloodstream.
The Airpod reaches mild hyperbaric therapy pressures of up to 1.3 ATA which enables oxygen and hydrogen to be carried through to areas in the body affected by hypoxia (low oxygen levels). When the AirPod is pressurised, the body’s oxygen uptake increases allowing the oxygen to permeate tissues and cells. The Hydrogen element is a powerful anti-oxidant absorbed in a similar nature, reducing oxidative stress and supporting healthier cells.
What are the benefits of Oxygen Therapy?
- Anti-aging
- Enhance endurance and reduce fatigue
- Reduce inflammations in the body
- Aid in relieving aches and pains
- Fast track recovery of damaged/injured areas of the body
- Improve sleep quality
- Increased muscle tone in your arms, legs, torso and neck (causing them to become more flexible)
- Enhance memory and improve brain fog
- Relieve headaches
- Improve concentration
- Enhance lung capacity
- Enhance sexual performance
What can I expect?
You will enter into the Airpod chamber like you are sitting in a comfortable chair. You can even recline it and get some shut eye if you’d like. Once the door is closed the chamber begins to pressurize and you will feel a sense of “fullness” in the same way you’d feel while scuba diving or when an aeroplane takes off and lands. By simply swallowing, yawning, or having a sip of water you can equalize the pressure in your ears and feel completely comfortable.
When the pressure reaches the required level, the therapy phase begins. You can rest, sleep, listen to music or even comfortably continue working on your laptop throughout your hydroxy therapy.
When finished, the pressure inside the chamber slowly decompresses back to 1.0 ATA.
